An advisory board is a group of experienced professionals whose purpose is to help support the business owner through strategy development, brainstorming or leveraging their networks for sales leads or talent acquisition. 

Advisory boards can be set up to run for a particular purpose/project (i.e. secure funding or expand into a new market) or as a regular thing (monthly or quarterly). 

Advisory boards are a cost effective way of accessing talent that would otherwise be cost prohibitive and can be a great source of wisdom and experience. 

Plus, they are just advisors. So, if you don't want to take their advice, you don't have to.
